Discover the joy of dancing together at this introductory Céilí night, with Aneta Dortová, hosted by Inis Arts in association with the Athens Irish Festival and the Greek Irish Society.
What is a Céilí?
A Céilí is a lively form of traditional social dancing associated with Ireland and Scotland. Dancers come together in pairs, circles or groups, following shared steps and patterns to traditional music. A leader explains the movements and calls out instructions, making it easy for any one to join in.
In this introductory session, Aneta will guide you through the steps in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, helping you find your feet and build confidence as you go. Rather than focusing on a solo performance, the emphasis is on taking part, moving together and enjoying the social spirit at the heart of the tradition.
Whether you’re discovering Céilí for the first time, curious about Irish dance or simply looking for a joyful way to connect with others, come along and enjoy dancing together.
Come ready to learn, laugh and enjoy the experience, and wear comfortable shoes for dancing!
